The exhibition THE FIRST ROOM has been opened at MAD Art Gallery in Poznań, presenting works by artists selected through the gallery’s open call.
Two paintings from my THE OBSERVERS series — XIII and XI, both from 2017 — are included in the exhibition.
The THE OBSERVERS series focuses on observation and human presence within contemporary urban space. Elements of infrastructure — lighthouses, antennas, poles and other structures — take on forms reminiscent of observing figures. Their apparent stillness contrasts with the functional character of the urban environment, drawing attention to relationships between the individual, space and others.
The presentation of these works as part of THE FIRST ROOM places The Observers within a new exhibition context, alongside works by other artists selected for the programme.
