“Over 1000: Continuation”

The exhibition “Over 1000: Continuation” at the Archaeological Museum in Poznań is a dialogue between contemporary art and the city’s heritage. Poznań is built upon foundations forged through more than a thousand years of history—from the memorable coronation of Bolesław I the Brave in 1025 to the vibrant rhythm of today’s metropolis. Yet this heritage is not confined to museum display cases; it lives on in the architecture of Poznań’s Old Market Square, in the winding streets of Ostrów Tumski, and in the city’s industrial spirit.

“Over 1000: Continuation” serves as an artistic bridge spanning the past and the present. Artists affiliated with the Poznań branch of the Association of Polish Visual Artists, together with invited participants, take on the challenge of engaging with the vastness of history, filtering it through contemporary sensibilities, modern techniques, and current artistic trends.

The exhibition presents a multidimensional panorama of the Poznań artistic community and testifies to the depth of its creative achievements. The interiors of the Archaeological Museum will be filled with a rich variety of artistic expressions, including painting, printmaking, and sculpture. The works on display have been created by distinguished artists, recipients of prestigious national and international awards, whose contributions enrich Polish culture while reaching beyond historical frameworks and looking boldly toward the future.

We invite you to join us on a journey through time, where every line, brushstroke, and sculptural form becomes a new expression of Poznań’s history.
